Micah Frankel

Micah Paul Frankel, Ph.D., CPA, CMA

 

 


Micah Paul Frankel has been a professor of accounting and finance at the California State University, Hayward since 1991. Previously, he taught at the University of Arizona where he received his Ph.D. His teaching experience encompasses a variety of accounting courses, including financial, managerial, tax, cost, and financial statement analysis. Professor Frankel teaches seminars on finance and accounting topics to company presidents, financial executives, bank commercial loan officers, and lawyers. He has taught extensively in management development and continuing executive education programs in the United States and abroad.

Prior to entering academics, professor Frankel was the Chief Financial Officer for a family-owned business. He received his masters degree in management from Northwestern University in 1988.

Micah Frankel has published several articles in leading academic research journals such as The Accounting Review and The Journal of Accounting Research. Additionally, he has served on the editorial board of the Journal of International Business Research since 1994. In 1994, a textbook he co-authored "Financial Accounting: A User's Approach" was published by Houghton Mifflin. The book is now in its fourth edition. In 1998, an advanced graduate version of this book was published.

Professor Frankel became Associate Director of the Smith Center for Private Enterprise Studies at CSUH in August 1998. In that capacity he teaches the Center's CSUH Course in New Venture Financing, runs the Center's annual business planning contest for high school students, coordinates the Center's high school visiting speaker program, and oversees Center's practitioner speakers series.
