California State University, East Bay


CSUEB  ViewCalifornia State University, East Bay (CSUEB) was founded by the State of California in 1957. It is one of 24 campuses in the California State University system. With over 360,000 students, the California State system is the largest of its kind in the United States. The Hayward Campus offers programs leading to the baccalaureate degree in 37 fields of study and the masters degree in 23 fields to approximately 13,000 students. CSUEB has four schools: Arts, Letters and Social Sciences, Business and Economics, Education, and Science. CSUEB is fully accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) in the United States, from which schools including the University of California Berkeley, the University of California Los Angeles and Stanford University receive their accreditation. The national associations in respective disciplines further accredit its various undergraduate and graduate programs.


The campus occupies 342 park-like acres in the Hayward hills, affording a panoramic view of nearly the entire San Francisco Bay Area. The cities of San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland, San Jose, and the Silicon Valley area are all within 30-40 minutes drive. CSUEB is close to the important financial center in San Francisco, the 5th largest US port city of Oakland, the booming high tech industries in Silicon Valley, and a large number of manufacturing firms and distribution centers in the San Francisco East Bay. Our location provides students with unique business and career opportunities in many industries.

Book Store CSUEB has graduated many well-known political leaders and successful business executives. Its graduates include the Senate Pro Tem (Senate leader) of the California Senate, California assemblymen, judges, mayors, a renowned Wall Street investment advisor and mutual fund manager, partners of national CPA firms and many high level managers of large corporations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Top executives of Wal-Mart, Bechtel, and Juniper Networks are all CSUEB graduates.

CSU, East Bay's organizational mission is to provide academic excellence to a diverse worldwide community. Towards this end, the university has pioneered educational programs in innovative and new directions. In a recent survey, CSU, East Bay was ranked as the eight top-ranked regional university in the western region of the United States by US News and World Report. Its faculty members have received numerous top national awards from prestigious institutions like the Carnegie Foundation, Ford Foundation, and the Freedoms Foundation.
