The College of Business and Economics (CBE) is one of the largest business schools in the San Francisco Bay area. The undergraduate program has over 3500 students. The domestic MBA program at the main campus has over 650 students and is focused on providing a truly international business education. The CBE's international MBA programs enroll another 350 students in four locations. Its graduates include CEOs, managing directors and senior managers of many regional and national companies as well as high-ranking managers of small, medium, and large corporations. The CBE is recognized as one of the top business schools on the West Coast. It is well known for its innovative business programs such as the Environmental Technology Incubator Program on Alameda Island and its Telecommunications Management Program and Incubator in San Ramon. The CBE was ranked among the top 25 up-and-coming universities for entrepreneurship by Success Magazine.

The prestigious Journal of Sports Economics (edited in conjunction with Columbia University) and the International Journal of Business Research are both edited at the CBE.
