Dr. Singson completed his Ph.D.(1972) from the University of Washington, Seattle. Prior to starting his doctoral studies, he was a fellow at the Graduate School of Business, Stanford University (1967-68). Dr. Singson also holds an MBA Degree from New York University, New York, N.Y., and a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from De La Salle University, Philippines. Dr. Singson joined the faculty of the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship at California State University, Hayward, in 1971. He started the Small Business Institute (SBI) Program at CSUH under the auspices of U.S. Small Business Administration. The program provides experiential learning to senior and graduate business students by providing management consulting to small businesses in the community. Students thus perform a useful community service while learning. Cal State University, Hayward, has been the recipient of the National Best SBI Case Award twice. (1986, 1989). The SBI Program was eventually expanded and became the core of the New Ventures and Small Business Management Options at both undergraduate and graduate level. Dr. Singson nurtured the entrepreneurship program to national prominence. Cal State Hayward's entrepreneurship program was named as one of the top programs in the country by Success, a magazine with national circulation. Dr. Singson has also been a recipient of the prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year Award for his support of entrepreneurs in Northern California. Dr. Singson's current research and teaching interest is in promoting the entrepreneurial spirit in the Newly Independent States of the former Soviet Union.
